The Consternation of the Magi

Christmas Eve in New Zealand, warm and windy. My only Christmas painting, from about 2010.

Durer’s Adoration of the Magi was a favourite local Christmas postage stamp in the 60s – lots of bright colours and way less silly than this. Channelling a bit of Michael Illingworth, plus Egyptian influence which lent itself to the subject matter. Still makes me laugh.
Have a great Christmas/New Year.
