Coolum, Queensland

Played golf at Coolum in the shadow of a great volcanic plug, a flow of hardened lava which stays uneroded while the surrounding soft rock/sediment disappears. Interesting (and expensive) to have to leave any stray ball unsearched for, given all the snakes in the undergrowth (I didn’t see any – surely not a ploy to help local ball collectors? Perhaps I should have added a snake or 2 to the grass).
