Our wider family have a bach at Mahanga, the southern-most beach on the East Coast of the North Island. There’s no TV, internet, cellphone cover or shops, so to get the milk you drive 6km across the isthmus and alongside this estuary to the dairy at Mahia Beach on the Hawkes Bay side.
