Aoraki/Mt Cook from Lake Pukaki #2

Classic central South Island, New Zealand – a lake and mountains and not many houses, people or roads.

Mt Cook/Aoraki (Cloud-piercer, great name) is NZ’s highest mountain at 12,000ish feet, where Edmund Hillary practiced in the early 50s for his ascent of Everest. Stunning trek for the rest of us up the valley at the end on the left to the lake at the end of Hooker’s Glacier at the foot of Aoraki.

The 3rd version of this scene – as with version 1, I wanted a contrast of warm and cold .
