Shackleton’s 1914 mission to the Antarctic, with his crushed ship, smallboat journeys to Elephant Island and South Georgia, and crossing of the island was an extraordinary adventure story – massively successful in that he saved all of his crew, eventually. The bonus is that the whole thing was photographed and is easily imaginable, plus there’s Branagh’s and NZ tele-versions of it.
Too good to be true? Obviously. I’ll get in first before the first conspiracy theory comes out.
Done in my getting comfortable monochrome blue Antarctic/penguin phase before I took on full colour. Acrylic 20″x18″
