Rangitoto is a volcanic island just off shore from Auckland, NZ’s biggest city – it’s geologically very young, nobody is really certain whether it is dormant or not. Motutapu is another island just off Rangitoto, not as well known but it looks volcanic also. Neither are inhabited.
Not really sure how this painting emerged – 3 earlier ones with white acrylic pens on a black background (which look like lithographs), this time brushes and colour on black – which ended up like stained glass. Good to be able to go with the flow, as they say upstream from Niagara Falls.
Acrylic on board, 500mmx500mm. Sold by Exhibitions Gallery, Wellington August 2020
